I am still using the free version while I evaluate Tonfotos, but when I try to edit the location I can only use drop down list, if I enter the location the photo was taken (i.e. Padre Island, Texas) the select button is grayed out. How do I add a new location?
Ken

kenmullins Do I get right that you are starting to type the location name but the button is still grayed out? You need to press down key to actually select one of the locations from the list. While none is selected, the button will not become enabled.

The location is NOT in the drop down list. When I manually type the location the “select” button is grayed out and not enabled. It does work when the location is in the drop down list,

kenmullins Ah, OK, I think I understand now. So program just does not know the coordinates of the location that you are looking for, that is why it cannot add those coordinates to your photo. It cannot just add text string “Texas”, it needs exact GPS location. That is why the button is not enabled.

What you can do instead is to find coordinates of the place in Google Maps, and then copy and paste it into this dialog instead of the name of the place. This way you can add arbitrary location to your photo, apart from ones in the list. More about this function here: https://community.tonfotos.com/d/158-version-1311-editing-the-photo-location

Thanks, that did the trick, but I would still prefer S Padre Island to 27.549159, -97.249814

kenmullins Yes, I see your point. Internal Tonfotos database of locations is quite short, it only contains most popuated cities. We had to strip it down to keep distribution size small. More or less full database of locations from OpenStreepMaps is several gigabytes. We are considering having online database of locations for that purpose, but this idea is not on top of our priorities list at the moment I am afraid.
