Pete Interesting idea. We already implemented few tricks to avoid unwanted updates, such as there is delay before next update once you do some actions with faces. However, it seems that you take your time selecting faces, that is why update still interferes with your work. Did you try to break up your corrections to smaller batches instead of selecting each and every outlier? That would actually help to keep suggestions from popping up unexpectedly.
