Looking for my faces

I have a 1tb library and have so far about 160 “known” faces. However, I’m sure there are hundreds of other faces in my library and also many instances of the known faces which do not show up as “face suggestions”.

I try the “suggest new person” option and it does suggest new faces most of the time, although many times it picks up fake faces such as memes etc. Sometimes it says “no new face suggestions available”.

Sometimes the program sits at “ready”. When I review and accept specific face suggestions it will re-calculate suggestions for that person, and more are found.

Is there a way to look at all the “unknown faces”? What would be useful is if they would be shown and grouped in the “people” list as “unknown person #1”, “unknown person #2”, etc…then all I would have to do is rename the suggestion (in the case of a true new person) or reassign them to another person.

Also, is there a way to re-trigger face finding for a given folder or groups of folders? Is that what re-indexing does? I jus would like to find them all at once instead of in chunks.

MrPinrel Thank you for sharing your experience. Yes, face recongiton in Tonfotos is best among the competitors (at least thats what other users say) but it stil far from being perfect. It still needs help from humans, some sort of new information it could use as “inspiration” for suggesting new faces.

There is a function that can show you all photos that contain faces that are not assigned to any person: https://community.tonfotos.com/d/317-191-search-for-all-photos-with-unassigned-faces There is no groupping by faces, there is grouping by events instead, which is also quite useful.

Suggestions for a person get recalculated in two cases:

you made some changes to that person (added new face or deleted previously assigned)
There were no calclulation for that person for 24 hours.

So if you want to trigger recalculation of suggestions for certain person, you need to give some new information for program, such as manually assign one or two faces. Then it will use that information to calculate new suggestions. Without new information most likely it will not be able to offer anything it did not offer already.

Re-index will delete photo from the database completely and will index it again just like new.
