I am wondering if Created in the File Information can be Renamed Date Taken to match the filed the data is pulled from.

e.g.

As its not using the Date Created field which is the date you dont really want to see when looking at a time a photo was taken.

gosimon Well, this is very interesting subject. What you show on the screenshot is not the official name of the field, this is just how Windows decided to call it. The corresponding Exif field is called DateTimeOriginal. But that is not it, what you see in Tonfotos is actually not just straightforward representation of that field alone, as this field quite often contains wrong date. There is quite complicated function that evaluates lots of different factors including Exif and XMP fields, as well as GPS timestamps to decide what date should be considered as most trustworthy.

That is fascinating i didn’t realize it was so complicated, but now i see how its complicated.

I just like how you labeled the date when you adjust the time and would be nice to see a more friendly version on the right side.

gosimon What exactly you mean by friendly, the 12-hours format? The date itself does not look so much different for me on both screenshots

I do like the 12-hr format as an option but im thinking it about moving created down underneath the comments box and if the comments and title isnt present it will be under the folder path.

I think it will just help my brain separate seeing the 2 dates together on when the file was modified vs the date when the photo was taken.

I did a mock up photo to show you what i am saying

gosimon Thank you for mockup. I am not sure though I understand how to justify why it will be so much better (in order to add this to the backlog). It looks to me just a bit different. Am I missing something?

Andrey just moving the created down helps me notice the time date the photo / media was taken vs when i work on the file and modify it. Useful as i have lots of scans in the 2000’s and i adjust the date of those files to when taken to make sure it slots it into the events better. So moving it down just looks cleaner to me.
