The version is already available for download on Windows, Linux and macOS. If automatic updates are enabled, the update will be installed automatically on Windows and macOS.

Quick search by name

Search is the feature that users ask for the most. But everyone has slightly different search requirements. 1.6.0 takes the first step in this direction. Now you can enter a few characters from the name of a folder, album or a person and quickly move to the desired section in the interface.

The search is available by clicking the button in the toolbar or by pressing the Control+F hotkey. Previously, this keyboard shortcut was used to add a photo to Favorites, but now you can do this with Control+L. Control+F is the most common keyboard shortcut for searching.

Further development

In this version, it is not yet possible to make complex queries “all photos of me and my wife on the seashore”. However, search will gradually evolve to support increasingly complex scenarios, and your feedback will greatly help us determine where to focus our efforts first.

On the other hand, the advantage of the current implementation is that it does not require additional computing resources for recognition and provides an instant answer to your query right as you enter it. More complex search scenarios will be less responsive.

Is there any chance the Ctrl+L for favourites could be changed to Ctrl+D? Ctrl+D is “Bookmark/Add to favourites” in all Chromium-based web browsers, so it would make sense to bookmark photos the same way, for muscle-memory’s sake.

I don’t know of Ctrl+L being used anywhere else.

Darren I see your point. However, this thing is of kind where everyone has own preference. Making this change was tough decision, since some users already got used to old combination. So I would prefer to wait for more feedback first before changing it again.

Andrey Customisable shortcuts? Or is there a poll I can vote in?

Darren no, your first to come up with this suggestion. Please, feel free to open new thread in “Feature requests”

I would much prefer to have a filter on people, instead of using the search. The reason for that is that the search does not allow me to do a persistent multi-selection.
For example, I want to look at the pictures of the ‘Smith’ family. There are 4 people in this family, and I want to reduce the (very long) list of people to just those 4.
