Hi, I imagine if there was an update, you would have provided one. In the meantime is there any way that I can remain on 1.14.3 or earlier? I can install an earlier version but subsequent use of the app automatically updates to the latest version.

Steve If you are using commertial license, then you can just turn off automatic updates in the settings of the app.

I had the exact same issue. And I’ve installed and uninstall the application until I reach the limit. I even had to wait 10 days to re-install v1.14.3 found here. It’s not a good user experience at all, and I wish to not face the same issue again when I’ll re-load my library 😅.

Quick question, since I have disabled the auto-update, will users be notified when the issue will be solved to benefit from the new features of the latest version ?

Every app should have some sort of copy protection. However, sometimes it might make life of honest users less convenient in extreme cases like that. Just contact support next time, and we solve that very quick.

Switching off autoupdates switches off notifications too. However, I will be posting updates here so you will get notification anyway.

I will try this and report back. (been away building new NAS for greater speed)

I’ve tried to install all version from first one, 1.13.7 -> 1.14.5.
Only using CPU. Face, Dossier, RAW, Video all settings ON.
Everything is working.

Major difference with and without Cuda was 22min to several 15h.. but I know the timer is up and down at times.
So seems like a huge impact using Cuda for face recon. Although I dont trust the windows-numbers-time that much 🙂

I did try to do the same with CUDA installed.
So i’ve installed all versions from 1.13.7 and up.. with CUDA preinstalled.
Tonfotos is reporting that Cuda is used.
Let the application run for 10-15min.
After some time, the application seems to be more “laggy”.
So maybe if we could have a switch to turn on Cuda - and let it run.. and be able to turn if off when we want to use the software ?

I’ve been installing all the different versions, with and without CUDA.
The software seems to work fine all the way to 1.14.5 with CPU (no cuda)
But when I tried to install Cuda and and upgraded, the system got really laggy with 1.14.5.
Using version 1.14.4 seemed to work for me now.

BUT the main difference is now that I’m on a new NAS with greater speed than before so maybe there is some “network waiting” that makes the system unresponsive ?

I think a good think would be to change the behavior - that when the user interacts with the software, the face recon should stopp working - cause this clearly makes the software mugh more laggy. Keep in mind i’m on a huge dataset 🙂.

To everyone affected. Please test 1.14.7. We were trying to understand what could be the reason for this hang, but since we cannot reproduce it ourselves, all those were just a guesses. We need your feedback if changes we made helped.

Andrey There has been some development with this issue I wanted to share with everyone. Thanks to several users we were able to confirm what triggers this freeze. This happens only when SD card is inserted into built-in SD card drive. When SD card is plugged out, or when it is connected using external USB reader, everythings works fine.

Please check if that is the case for you. It would be very important to understand if that is the only reason or there could be more.

Few recent releases included changes in the way Tonfotos detects connected drives on Windows as well as connected phones. This all was done in attempt to overcome freezing issue. However, none of that changes helped with this particular SD card issue. However, since we managed to narrow it down, it will be much easier to fix it going forward. Please stay tuned.

Andrey Version 1.14.10 is released today, it fixed hanging issue.
