Clarification:
I had a question, but was/is too new at this prgram to even phrase it correctly. I will try again.
I have in the past months - prior to downloading TonPhotos, placed most of my pictures on a External Hard Drive.
I will call it EHD.
All my photos are in a file on the EHD named PS.
Prior to loading TonFotos, I created another folder in EHD named Test.
I copied some 5000 photos from PS and placed them in Test.
I wanted to practice on these copies without damaging originals
Then I installed TonFotos and told it to … do what ever it was going to do… in Test
I left on Face reconginition as that is the whole purpose of my wanting this software.
The program then informed me that it would take 59 hours to complete. I thought that that was a lot of time for 5000 photos but let it go. I then noticed on the bar at the bottom of the screen that Tonphotos was serching in PS on something called ‘previews’. I never asked it to go to PS, only to Test.
ASIDE: There is nothing that I can find on the progrm that informs as to how many photos TonFotos has or where it places them.
(Does it just ‘index’ them where they sit, or does the program move the pictures elsewhere - The program is on my Computers hard drive, my photos and if Tonfotos is creating another folder are on EHD, or I would like them to be)
BACK TO QUESTION:
I thought it strange to be going this length of time for just 5000 picutes even if it is doing face recognition.
After 24 hours, I mistakenly turned off the power to my computer. When I turned it back on, Tonfotos seemed to have resumed… only this time I noticed that the the time indicated 68 hours to completion.
And then about 10 hours later, - I just purchased a new Mac Book Pro and the power connector is held in place with a magnet - I accidently disconnected it again and eventullay the computer ran out of battery life and shut down.
I started up again, it now says I have 80 hours to go.
After the second start up, I delete the Folder Test, And created another folder named T2.
I copied 800 pictures from PS and placed them in T2. I thought 800 would be quicker than 5000.
I also removed Face recognition for the criteria.
I them named T2 as the library.
Tonphotos went to work. But after I while I noticed down at the bottom of the dialogue box that it was once more doing it’s thing in PS. I went back to ‘Library Locations’ and it was just Desktop and T2 shown. Yet, it tells me it is doing something with ‘Previews’ in PS.
Can you even explain what is going on?
In another question:
Duplicates: The dialogue box tells me
where it is looking -
what it’s identical too (pease explain that)
Number of files
Siize of files
And then. TO ALBUM or DELETE
I have to ask… what Album? I didn’t create an album. Did TonFotos create an album?
If I click on TO ALBUM, is it going to delete thes files, or transfer them? What is this Album?
And,…. is this the tricky part,…. If I hit delete, is everything, even the original deleted (unless I check each duplicate out separately)
Where and when is it safe for me to delete duplicates. After the initial Scan, During the Scan or before I start anything?
