Hi,

Thanks for creating tonfotos. I think it is great.
I using tonfotos to organize my photos in an external drive. I notice that the free space in that external drive is getting smaller and smaller as Tonfotos is scaning faces in the photos in that drive. And I see it creates a directory structure like {Year}/{date} in the same external drive.

Does that mean that I need double the size of the disk space when I use Tonfontos? And when I delete a photo in Tonfontos does it delete both copies? i.e the one in original path and the one it copies to {Year}/{date} driectory.

w60houes I’m afraid you did something wrong. Tonfotos does not create this directory structure unless you ask it directly to do that. All you needed to do is to add this folder to the Library locations, and it will scan it as is. However, I assume once you plugged it in, there was popus asking to import (meaning copy) your files to your main library (which happens to be the same drive), and that started copying process. This function is designed to import files from phones and cameras, but for some reason Windows does not makes too much distiction sometimes between camera and regular USB hard drive.

I would suggest you to stop this process (by closing down the applicaiton). And then next time this popup will appear, tell it to never popup again for this drive.

Then you probably will want to delete those newly created folders. But before doing that I would suggest to wait for scanning to finish, and then you will be able to see which files are duplicates and which not.

    Hello,

Just downloaded and loving Tonfotos for the simplicity of making it easier to see all my photos.

I am having a similar issue as above. My drive is filling up fast as Tonfotos scans all of my photos. I have a personal Dropbox folder, but for some reason, once I uploaded the software it is duplicating my pictures folder. But it is in the same dropbox and if I go to the folder, it is showing as the same folder.

Have you seen this issue before. Is the fix the same as above?

natedoggregulator I believe this is likely question to Dropbox support, rather to us. You point Tonfotos where to check for files, and it checks right there where you pointed it to. If that place happens to be virtual cloud folder, Tonfotos will try to read every file and that will trigger downloading files from the cloud. However, Tonfotos will not create separate folder with the same files.

Andrey OK. Thank you. I will reach out to Dropbox support. When I unsynced the folder locally, both folders went away, but when I synced it back to my local drive, it brought back the duplicated folders. I agree that it likely it something on the Dropbox side, but I never had this issue until using Tonfotos. I’ll let you know what I find out.
