Fair enough.
I have no real idea how face recognition works, but I thought it looked at lips, mouth, eyes, nose, etc., so it didn’t seem unreasonable to think the software could be looking at the orientation of the face. If it’s just looking at a sideways face the same as an upright face then that would seem a little odd, and unlike what I’d read.
The issue for me is that my Canon CR3 files are all over the shop, as different browsing utilities seem to be doing different things. I think I’m going to be able to sort orientation out, but it’s tricky. I’m surprised that the CR3 files don’t have the correct orientation, perhaps I’d not set the camera up correctly.
This seemed a solution that might fix a few issues, but I think you’re probably right.
