Restructuring Folders scan

I have 100 000 photos in 50s folders (Parent folder contains 5 sub-folders & 5 sub-folders further contains many folder tree structure) and it is painful to go through all of them altogether. Can we do it in following way:
1) Add sub-folder 1 in tonfotos for scanning.
2) Add sub-folder 2 for scanning
and so on.
Once all folders are scanned. Add parent folder in tonfotos and it uses the same meta data for face detection. The parent folder doesn’t have any photos as such. This will help in face recognition wherever a new sub-folder or a folder is added in tree structure.

rahul I’m afraid I don’t understand the challenge. Why don’t you just add the root folder?

Adding root folder, forces togo through 100 000 photos, whereas adding sub folders, let me add folders at my convenience & once all sub folders are done, I can simply add root folder and have everything sorted. Why add root folder ? To make sure new photos (which would be in 100-150 range), it would be easier to face tag those.

rahul You still can go folder by folder, just index it once from the root folder. This way face recognition will be able to suggest faces from all folders at once, making it much more efficient process.

Yes, that’s the point. If I go via root folder, it will suggest faces from all photos at once, on average, 3 faces per photo means 300 000 faces to go through, which is a nightmare. But folder by folder, 100 photo each is 300 faces. I know this is a lengthy process but this will give me more control.

I guess you mean manual process when you click on each face. This list does not depend on amount of images, it will show you only best mathces. when you right click on the face.

What I am talking about it automatic suggestions for person. Accepting batches of 20-30 faces is definitly much more efficient than 2-3, let alone manually assigning each face. We suggest manual review as the final stage, when you already finished with the automatic suggestions more or less, only as a way to find what program has missed. This should save you a lot of work.

Yes, I totally agree & I have been using tonfotos for over a month. But my 100 000 photos are yet not finished 😊.
I really love the product but when I feed root folder, it scans & create index, all good but it keeps on suggesting & ask to accept the face of people, which it should but as it learns & suggests new photos of a person in 100 000 photos, it has become a endless process. It asks to accept the suggestion (or reject it) but I couldn’t complete it in over a month. Sub folder will give me a sense of achievement that I have done 50 or do folders 😊

Well, some may say this is like house renovation project - you can stop it but you can never be done 🙂 There will always be something to improve in your archive.

Thank you for explaining your approach. Still I am not sure what prevents you from combining both. I understand that reacting on suggestions may become less productive with the time. And at that point it coulbe good idea to start going thru folders. However, what prevents you doing that when root folder is indexed?

Andrey actually, there are specific folders which I would like to scan first (given the importance of photos) but root folder is not helping with it. If this is a lot of ask, I think I will just let application do its work
