Perhaps not as automated as what mc64 requested, and perhaps not exactly what is sought, but folders can be excluded from tonfotos Library Locations by using the context menu item “Stop Indexing”. That’s what Andrey meant by exclude each folder manually but I thought I would explain in more detail because I was not previously aware of this feature. I am using it now to exclude e-book covers, music album art, and similar material from tonfotos.
In the tonfotos Folders Tab, locate a folder such as \mountpoint\pictures\date-location\originals. Right click on the folder in the list on the left (e.g. on the folder named originals) and in the context menu click on “Stop Indexing”. When prompted, click Hide Folder to confirm.
This excludes the folder and all of its subfolders from tonfotos. Faces from the pictures in the folder are no longer shown in the Faces tab. The folder does not appear in the Folders tab. Pictures in the folder do not appear in the Timeline, Locations or Albums tabs.
You can see these folders by clicking Library Locations in the File menu. Then click on on the Library Location in the left column, containing the now Ignored Folder. A list of ignored folders is shown on the right column. If there are no Ignored Folders, (removed by Stop Indexing), then this list is not visible but it displays below the second section, below the line starting with “Last Scanned” and above the switches for things like “Recognize Faces”. Click the X beside an Ignored Folder in the list to restore it to the Library. It is rescanned which might take some time depending on the number of pictures.
The Ignored Folders are listed relative to the Library Location so if the Library Location is \mountpoint\pictures then the Ignored Folders will show date-location\originals. If the items in the Ignored folders list are long/wide click and hold the right side of the window entitled “Manage photo library locations” and drag it wider.
