Deleting a person - What happens?

Hello,

I through my own shortcomings hit enter when identifying someone by the 1st few letters of their name rather than selecting the correct name in the list provided.
This creates a new person such as Char, rather than what I should have selected Charles.
When I select ‘Delete Person’ do all the faces go back in to the pool to be identified, is it just the unconfirmed ones, or do they all subsequently go in to the ignored catagory?
Often when I do make this mistake it will dump a load of different people that it is unsure of and there will be no single name that ‘Merge’ would really be applicable.

Well, program does not know if this was a mistake or you indeed wanted to create another person.

They all become unassigned faces, some may show up as suggestion to other people.

While I think of, and if you want I’ll do a new post, the *.ini files have actual names in them which means that every time a name is changed all the relevant *, ini files must be updated.
Would it not be better to assign a unique I.D. to each name and only have the name in the database file, that way the *.ini files wouldn’t need udating as the unique I.D. would remain the same?

Bobbles Yes, it is good practice to post separate suggestions as new threads. This way other users may participate in discussions they are also interested in.

I am not sure what you mean by ID in that case. If that is something that only exists in database, this will not be of much help if file will be renamed. For the application this will be just a new file, and there will be no way to know that is has something to do with other file that has just disappeared (because old name does not exist anymore).

In any case, renaming is extremely rare case. I don’t know if you noticed, there is still no file rename funciton in Tonfotos, but guess what? No one seems to care. That is why it still was not implemented.
