Thumbnails/Phots appear corrupt but not

Hello,
I am new to Tonfotos having been looking for a Picasa replacement for years.
Thus far, apart from the ongoing indexing, (just shy of 160k photos/videos), it has been as I hoped.
However, upon looking in Folder view I noticed a number of pictures that appeared partially corrupted, multicolour stripping either vertically or horizontally across the photos.
Upon opening one of my baackups, in explorer, the same pictures were ok so if they were corrupt I could recover them, but when I looked, again using explorer, at the supposed corrupt photos they are fine, both thumbnail and full image?
I will wait until Tonfotos has finished indexing, and then try removing some of the pictures, let Tonfotos register thay are gone and then restore them to see if this resolves the issue.
Any other suggestions in the meantime gratefully accepted.

Bobbles I am sorry you are facind those issue.

I would suggest you try following things:

Opening this image in Tonfotos (double click) to see if this issue will be in view mode too.
If images are viewed wihtout issues, I would suggest re-indexing those images (this comand is available in righ mouse click menu). This will have the same effect as deleting and addding images again, just much more convenient.

If problem will persist in both cases, I would ask you to send few image examples to support@tonfotos.com so we can test that ourseleves and see what we can do about the issue.

Thanks for the swift response.

Yes the images show the same apparent corruption in view mode as well.

If I then right click and select ‘Open with Photos’, the image loads without any apparent corruption.

I’ll send a couple of images to the email as requested.

Bobbles Thank you very much for sharing files.

I have checked and I can see the same issue on my PC in Tonfotos. However, I also checked opening this file in few other applications, and I got mixed results. Some opened it fine, some had same issues. This is Snip & Scetch (built-in Windows app):

Same thing with Mac OS built-in app Preview. However, at the same time several applications showed file without issues.

My guess is, files are broken, but not entirely. Typically, RAW files contain both original image and smaller JPEG version as preview. The apps that will not bother decoding full image and just show JPEG preview - they will show your files just fine. But image editors and other applciations like Tonfotos will try to decode original image, and this is when it shows corruption.

Just an FYI in case you get others with the same issue regarding corrupted NEF files.

While repairing the NEF doesn’t seem possible, I have found that with images that have the multi colour corruption, if I open it in file explorer (Windows), double click to open the image and then select Edit, I can save the JPG version, which I believe is embedded in the NEF.

This option at least makes the full resolution image available.
