Hi… I’m looking for an alternative to the built in apple photos app… that one synchronizes with iCloud, and i’m dangerously close to running out of storage. Deleting a photo from iCloud also deletes it from my Apple photos. I’d ideally like to have one master photo library where all my pictures live, right now I have them squirreled away all over the place and it’s really quite a mess.

I’m hoping to have my photos available offline but still able to view on my Mac in a way that is searchable. Tonfotos looks like it might be a great solution, but I can’t seem to get Apple Live Photos to work inside Tonfotos. Live photos work great on Amazon Photos but I want an offline solution. Is this functionality available? I’d love to be able to filter and see just the Apple Live Photos available in my library. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks 🙂

jazzz Live photo is just a pair of JPEG (or HEIC)+ very short MOV file. All those formats are supported by Tonfotos, but unlike iPhone they will show up as two indepened files next to each other in Tonfotos. You can view both. Can you call this “Live Photos support” or not - that is up for debate, but you can hardly call it “no support” 🙂

There are pro’s and con’s of the current approach. I, for example, prefer to delete those MOV files most of the time since they rarely add anything to the picture, expecially if that is a picure of still object, but they just consume disk space. And for that task current approach is preferrable.

Funny enough, we did not get much of complains about this approach before.

Have you already tried to view those files in Tonfotos?

Was looking if anyone had mention this before..
One idea, option to merge those in the main explore view, as you said they are now shown separate, but how about have option to show only the JPG file, but play the MOV file when you hover over the JPG, just like it does when you hover over the MOV file now, and maybe have some kind of icon that show its Live photo? That would give it the iPhone feel 😃

Dumbur Up to now does not seem users are bothered much by lak of this feature, but we will continue monitoring the situatuon.
