Hi - I´ve been looking for a good Image Organizer, that could organize image-files, had face recognition AND where it was possible to frag and drop af file from within the app to another app. My workflow is often searching for an image-file by file-name or by name of person - preferably made with Face Recognition - and after finding a whole selection of files with the same person, I would like to be able to drag the file from the app to another app - like Indesign, Photoshop etc. I had high hopes about Tonfotos - but the missing drag - and - drop feature makes it hard for me to choose this app. XnView MP has all the nice features, but lags Face recognition…I would choose Tonfotos if I could drag an drop the files….Any clues how to fix that issue?
Drag files from Tonfotos to other applications?
Andrey Thanx - I can´t get you woarkaround to work very often. I´ll give you some examples (I have tried this on two differeent Windows 11 PCs):
- If I´m in thumbnail mode (no matter if its ind FOLDERS or EVENT) I can select an image and hit CTRL+C - I get a message on screen saying “Copied”. Then I go into like Indesign, Photoshop or other Adobe software I use all the time - and I hit CTRL+V but nothing happens. If I click on the thumbnail in Tonfotos and get into the image and hits CTRL+C there goes some time and it says “Copied” and this time it will insert in Indesign. But its very slow - and I have to wait for it says “Copied”. It would be very nice, if one could just select an image in the thumbnail view - hit CTRL-+C and the move to like Indeisgn and hit CTRL+V and the image pastes into the app. Its not working very good as it is now.
And If it could be possible - like in a lot of other DAM/Image organizers - to just drag and drop a images file from TonFotos indto Indeisgn or other software - it would be a really nice feature - and I guess it would be easier for people like me, that work professionally with images, layout ect in Adobe software to choose Tonfotos above other software. It could very well be a deal breaker, that its so hard to get images from Tonfotos into Adobe apps…Hope you will look into this…I have just bought a single user license…and consider buying one at work as well, but this issue bothers me…Thx ;-)

Moxtell When you copy while viewing photo, image content gets copied (as bitmap image, that is why it can be a bit slow). When you paste it in other app, it will create new file with its content.
When you copy from the thumbnail mode, files get copies. When you paste it in other app, like in Windows Explorer, it will physically copy the files from thier original locations. Different applications will behave diferently when you try to paste files, I just tried Faststone, and it would just copy files just like Exporer, but Lightroom classic just ignored it completely.
If your intention is to open files for editing from their original locations, you can use other tool - Open With… - probably that will be better option for you.
As to drag and drop - yes, I as I said, this is in our backlog already.
Moxtell can use export function to export selected photos?

Could an option to copy the entire file path be added to the dropdown menu? Picasa has this feature as well, and it’s useful when importing photos into programs that don’t support ‘drag & drop’ or ‘copy/paste’.
zincica There is another thread with that request: https://community.tonfotos.com/d/451-show-in-context-menu-copy-full-path-this-image
