msavazzi Firs of all, I am not an expert in Ligntroom, so I can only assume what other options of storing people data it has, apart from keeping it in internal database. However, I think we can safely assume it knows how to write your tags and faces into XMP data inside JPEG’s, since it is Adobe who invented this XMP format after all.
Quick googling shows that there shold be some option like “Automatically Write to XMP”, but again, I am not the expert so please do your own research. I would recommend you to play around and figure out how to make Lightroom write all your metadata to XMP. It is important that it should write it into file metadata, not into separate (AKA sidecar) files, since Tonfotos does not currently support sidecar.
Tonfotos supports reading info from XMP metadata, including face regions and poeple names. So once iti is there, Tonfotos will read it wihtout issues.
I think other people will appreciate if your would share your expereince going forward here in this thread. That would help them should they decide to do the same transition.
