Need to tag faces twice in the same picture

Good evening
In 30-50% of all pictures faces/persons are tagged/identified twice within the same picture. See attached sniippit as example.
The picture has only 3 faces/people. In the attached snippit, 3 people are tagged and 3 are not. The 3 people tagged are the same as those 3 identified but not tagged.
In other words, the system correctly identify the people in the picture and only those in the picture, but it does so at least twice.
This is in itself annoying, but it creates a creates a serious problem when tagging. I tag one picture, and then this picture is offered up as a suggestion later, both on the same person and on other persons.

Godfjott That is odd, thank you for reporting.
Can you please provide more background on how that happened? Were those faces doubled from very beginning or this second group appeared later?

I am not sure. I have 25k pictures, a lot of them similar, so it took a while before I noticed anything. I have been tagging these two last evenings. I became suspicious tonight when I never got done. Then I saw pictures I knew I had tagged appear as suggestions on the "wrong"people.

These factors are not relevant:
Number of people in the picture.
Source (type of camera)
Age of picture
Age of people in picture
Resolution
Light
Time of day
Scene

It can be one picture in a series of 3-4. The rest has only one tag per person

Godfjott Can you please do an experiment? Take one photo like that, delete all faces from it, then re-index the photo (there is a command in context menu). When it got indexed again, will those faces be doubled again? If yes, then I would appreciate if you would send couple of photos like that to support@tonfotos.com for tests.

The faces did not double. I also tried copying pictures to a different folder. Tee faces did not double on indexing the copied file.

Can this error be connected to the tagging itself? When I am tagging I mark several pictures in one go and do “Confirm” Person A. In this process Tonfotos, sometime, “jumps” the album. Meaning it scrolls up or down suddenly. It seems to do that when it is adding more suggestions to the person I am working on. Another thing, when tagging several pictures at the same time the system uses som time to process. Before the process is complete I have marked the next segment of pictures and tagged. Can this delay make the first batch, in some way recieve a second set of tags?

Right now it is hard to say, as I never saw this issue myslef, and there is only one another person who reported similar issue recently. It was never reported before. So right now you probably have more knowledge than me about this issue, as your experienced it first hand.

My guess is that those irregularities you described should not be the reason. It can lead to accidentally confirming wrong suggestion, true, but confirming face does not create new one, it just assigns it to the person, that is it. Somehow programm recognized faces on image twice, which it should not do normallly, as it keeps track in the database of all images on which faces has been already recognized. For some reason it failed on those images. Right now I have no idea why, sorry.

Good thing is that we know now that processing the image again removes all extra faces, you can use this workarround going forward.

FYI
I do not use the CUDA library. The PC is somewhat old and did not index with CUDA, even though the GPU is supported.
