Mikko Slideshow will show you all photos in the current Folder/Event/Person/Album starting from selected photo. If you select several - it does not know from which one to start, so button is grayed out. If your intention was to make slideshow from only those photos that you have selected, then first add them to the new album, and then run slideshow there.
