Good day,
Not sure if this is a bug or a new feture required.
How do I import additioanl photos from a USB stick. The USB sticks are not showing up on my software for import of photos.
They show up on my PC, etc…
Also, is there any way to designate an import (folder) location on the PC desktop or hard drive, etc… that can then be removed/deleted from the import location after import.
Thanks
Import from USB Stick
I am using Windows 10
When I try to import, I get a notice stating no device connected even though usb stick with photos inserted in pc.

MelFish This import functionality is bases on Microsoft technology called WIA: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/wia/-wia-startpage
Mostly it is designed to import files from phones and cameras, but in most cases in also works on regular thumb drives. I guess, Windows has some functionality that checks content of the newly added storage and decide, can it be considered photo device or not, and based on that, WIA will see it or not.
Unfortunately, I have no control on what Windows considers image device. My guess it expects to see there some specific folders like DCIM or something like that. And if it will see it, it will behave as it is photo camera, and then Tonfotos will be able to detect its insertion and make import from it.
Alternative approach is to just temporarily add this card to Tonfotos Library, let it index its content, and then import Photos using this function: https://community.tonfotos.com/d/175-version-143-simplification-of-copying-files-to-archive When using this function, files will only be indexed once.
Try these steps -
Try these steps -
- Connect your USB cable to your PC.
- Open the File Explorer
- Click this pc
- Open your flash drive
- Select files to move.
- Transfer files with “Move to”.
- Eject your flash drive.
Sorry, I dont understand. If I select the photos on my USB drive, how would I get any “move to” request from Tonfotos?
And how would duplicates be handled?
Thanks
Unfortunately that will not take care of duplicates.
MelFish No, it will. Please read here: https://community.tonfotos.com/d/175-version-143-simplification-of-copying-files-to-archive
