Image previews outside of main program

Hello,

I found this new app as I was searching for a replacement for Picasa. While the program works well and stood out from the competition, I couldnt figure out how to open / preview images outside of the program by double clicking the image file in Windows Explorer.

What am I doing wrong ? Any kind soul could guide this newbie ?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

ceo54 There is standard OS functionality that lets you assing specific default appliaiton for specific file type. Particular instruction will differ based on OS type and version, but you can easily google it. Once Tonfotos is set as default app for, say JPEG files, it will open quick view every time you double click JPEG file in explorer.

First, allow me to thank you for the kick ass program. Projects like these makes using computers so much fun.

Now the isssue, yeah it works that way but there are two issues.

When I preview an image directly from explorer, tonfotos main program also starts and sits in the taskbar unless manually closed. This is unexpected behavior as if I’m previewing an image inside explorer, I dont need full program opened. If I want to access my library for any given reason, I will just start tonfotos. Previewing an image should not start the main program.
Preview overlay has no close button. The preview used by tonfotos is very similar to that of Picasa, but unlike Picasa, tonfotos image preview has no close, minimize, open with main tonfotos or similar options. When I preview the image, I have to either kill the process with taskmanager or hit ESC on keyboard to get back to whatever I was doing before it. There isn’t a visible close button anywhere on quick view that can quickly close the preview.

I hope this information is sufficient. I would be keen for your response and if you consider resolving these in any way.

ceo54 You are right, quick preview funtion in Tonfotos is still in its early phase and there is lot of ways how it can be improved. The challenge is however, not that much of users are actually asking about it, there are always more important things to do, and we focus on those.

This is surprise to me actually. I personally loved this funciton in Picasa and I expected much more feedback from users about it. But reality is different.

Thank you for the response.

I respect your priorities and appreciate the fact that you focus to develop the program based on user’s preferences / expectations.

However, what I pointed out is the matter of basic functionality and once implemented, there won’t be any need to update it / improve it barring the edge cases.

I will go back to Picasa for now. But I will visit in the near future to check if the requested features were implemented and all the basic functionality is present to rely on the program.

To be honest, everything is already there, except this one quick view enhancement feature. I hope someday you’ll find the necessary motivation and time to implement it.

Thank you for your kind support and making such an awesome app. It breaks my heart that I will have to do without it but it’s a compromise I have to live with.
