Andrey No-no, you don’t have suggested faces, this does not mean you have no unassgined. You might still have tons of unassigned, but those faces could be just from different people, or low quality, or different enough for some reason so that program does not suggest them for existing people.
As I understand, you are trying to make your archive 100% clean - all faces are either assigned or deleted, correct? This is not everyone is doing as this is too much of work. Mostly people just stop at the point where you currently are, as this is very good balance of effort and result.
In your case it is time for manually cleaning each and every face by going photo by photo. You can see all the photos with unassigned faces using filter that can be added from the main menu (File->Filters). You can use it in combination with filter by specific folder and this way move thru your archive, cleaning one folder after another.
However, that approach will only help you to clean faces that were deteced, but there could be faces that were not detected by the program. If this is also you want to fix, then there is no other way than just going photo by photo, I am afraid.
Andrey thank you. Yes, I’m trying to make a 100% clean archive with all faces either assigned or removed. File -> Filters looks like what I missed. Still, now this makes 3 places for faces:
- Files -> Suggest new people,
- People tab
- Files -> Filters.
Would really love a bit of streamlining / transparency to the process.
Regarding missing faces - yep, there are quite a few, but I’m also going over all photos individually (that’s how I noted the problem).
Andrey What this indicator is supposed to show?
Something like “marked up faces / total faces” + “% of photos scanned for faces”, maybe some other stats. It is very difficult to mark up thousands of faces to find another hundred added up meanwhile, repeated again and again. A total indicator makes the process look like it has a foreseeable end.
ADDED: hmm, just yesterday I have finished all photos till 2015 manually going over each one. Today tonfotos suggested faces on those manually checked photos again (wrong detections). This is what I’d really love to avoid, i.e. if photo is already scanned - it shouldn’t be rescanned again. Maybe this is why this process feels inconsistent really.
P.S.: btw, I really enjoy tonfotos. Miss minor things and a bit of transparency, but finally I do have instrument to mark up people that matter to me, their links, etc. This discussion isn’t the right place for this, but it would be awesome to also have some kind of way to link this to Obsidian, maybe via app URIs to specific persons (I have genealogy in my Obsidian with a lot of documents and stories linked to people), or a plugin
