When I want to remove duplicates in tonfotos, the corresponding candidates are collected in the Duplicates album.
When I view the Duplicates album, I see two or more identical images side by side for each duplicate group, without any information directly above or below the images. In this respect, it would be just as good to display only a single image at this point.
From my perspective, it would be better if a minimum of information were displayed with the images, for example the path. I personally often decide which of the two or more images I want to delete based on the path. It is true that the path is displayed in the sidebar in a quite small font. The problem is that the sidebar is still too narrow for most paths and I first have to point the mouse at the abbreviated paths to understand which image belongs to which path and vice versa. This means that instead of simply looking at the image and seeing the path directly, I have to move the mouse to the sidebar and shift my gaze back and forth between the image and the sidebar. Other metadata could also be displayed as others may have different preferences.
A more advanced suggestion is to be able to define a few simple rules for selecting groups of files to be deleted from large collections of duplicates. Many dedicated duplicate search programmes allow this, but of course they have a different focus than tonfotos.
Or may be I simply haven’t yet fully understood the principle of how duplicates are best deleted in tonfotos.
