Choices for the "Open with..." function

I’d like to go directly to my photo editing program, especially since tonfotos doesn’t offer any edit functions. Can you make it possible to select a program to open, rather than to give a few choices I don’t use? Thanks.

DSaylor Tonfotos just reads from the Windows registry all programs that are registered to open this type of file for editing and shows them all. What program you are missing specifically? There is probably something with its registration.

Hello Andrey,
for me, it is the same.
If I right mouse click on a JPG or JPEG file, followed by “open with”, I get a list with 15 picture related entries plus one with he possibility to select.
In case of Tonfotos, I get only 9 entries - and only three of them do have a relation to pictures.
I would also like to see an enhancement to give the users a chance to influence the list of apps for the “open with” function.

Gerhard Thank you, that is helpful. I will add a ticket to our system so we will take a deeper look into this.

Andrey In the latest version (1.14.2) the lists should be much closer to each other, though there still might be differences. The thing is, Windows itself does not behave as it described in the documentation, so we had to do some reverse engineering and there is no guarantee that we found all the differences.

thanks for this update.
Unfortunately, in my case, the list of apps is still having 9 entries and very different to the menu in the file explorer - the only difference is the order of the apperience in the menu.
For me, the issue isn’t solved with this new version.

Hello Andrey,
a short question to you - is there any progress on that issue?
I’m using the verion 1.14.5 - the “Open With” menu doesn’t show me the same apps as windows is doing to open the picture with.
Like I showed in my last screenshot.

Gerhard I am afraid I don’t have news for you. Microsoft does not share how exactly they build their context menu here. Or to be precise, they have this documented, but their documentation is just false. It does not work as they describe. What we do in Tonfotos now - is significant step forward compared to what is documented, and this is due to lots of effort in reverese ingeneering. Currently, what we see in our tests, our menu looks not exactly like in explorer, but very similar. Your case is definitely exceptional, most users dont see that many differences. Right now we don’t have ideas how to improve it further, unfortunately.
