How to see embedded face data outside Tonfotos

Hello, I’ve been happily working with Tonfotos for quite some time. I really appreciated the update where the face data was written into the file’s metadata. I’m just wondering where I can actually find that, for example in another program. I see that it’s not stored as a keyword. So how does that work? Thanks in advance!

Marleen9 Well, this forum is about Tonfotos, so I hope you can understand we don’t provide detailed support for other applications here. However I can name some of them that you can use to check if the face metadata is there. My personal go to tool for anything for photo metadata is exiftool, but this is a console utility so it is not for everyone. Alternatively you can use Faststone image viewer, it will not only show you the metadata, but can actually display embedded face regions. Both apps are free.

I completely understand that. My question wasn’t so much about other programs, but more about the technical aspect of how such information is stored. But I now understand that it’s probably stored in the XMP data.

Marleen9 That is correct, XMP is the only metadata type that is capable of storing faces information. Neither EXIF or IPTC have fields for that.
