Walden my subfolders do not include an embedded date in the folder name.
It won’t help with your existing folders, but what if going forward, for the folders you access that you change the folder name to add the date. And do that on new folders. If you start the folder name with dates in the format yyyymmdd, they will sort chronologically (two digits for month and for day so they sort properly. Or yyyyymm if you only need resolution down to month.
One thing I’ve been doing for a long time is in Windows File Explorer > Select All > Rename and I rename all the photos in a collection, say from an event or trip, with some keywords, e.g., “Pinecone Beach 06uly2025” and File Explorer automatically numbers the photos sequentially. That gives me something to search for. I didn’t intend this for TonFotos, but it turns out I can search for photo file names in TonFotos.
I used to use, and still use Google Picasa, and Picasa could search for photo tags or comments which was handy. Sometimes I still use Picasa to find photos then once I know the year and date I can find it in TonFotos. I’m using TonFotos for the day when Picasa stops working.
