I’m running tonfotos on an older PC that has a large windows storage spaces drive share. I noticed photo imports were taking up a lot of CPU utilization. In task manager “Antimalware Service Executable” or Windows Defender had high CPU utilization, so I did a little experiment.
Settings -> Windows Security -> Virus & Threat Protection -> Manage Settings -> Exclusions -> Add or Remove Exclusions -> + Add and Exclusion
Add your photos folder here. This will prevent windows defender from scanning your photos from virus and maleware every time tonfotos wants to scan your photos.
Now, my CPU utilization during face scanning and photo import is lower. It might also help to know I keep my photos outside the normal windows user photos location.
