Metadata write error - "undefined"

When adding tags, I am getting this error. Any idea how to solve this?

mt2025 Thank you for sharing the files, the error is reproducible. This is very interesting case - EXIF is padded with zeros so it is almost the maximum possible size (65535), and any modification makes it overflow this size.

I will see what can be done here. Most likely fix will be part of the next release. I will keep you informed.

The exif is not actually corrupted on those files, it is padded with empty space at the end, I don’t know why. So instead of say 25K it takes all maximum possible 64K. Maybe camera creators meant to optimize somehting this way, and here’s the result.

Anyway, you should not worry, and you don’t need to do anything about it. I have already made modifications to the Tonfotos, it will automatically strip away that padding in the end every time you modify metadata. File will even get shorter for few KB in result. Just please wait for next release, should not take long, we usually release every other week.

I went back and checked the photos I took on the same day and noticed that all photos in portrait mode are fine. The problem on exist on the landscape photos. Every photo in landscape mode is having the same issue. When I try to rotate a landscape photo, I also got the same error.

I just checked the “Additional Metadata” on the property panel on the right, all the portrait photos have a few additional lines, see screen snapshot, while on the landscape ones the last line shown is “Thumbnail Length”.
