Twice I have gotten into a state where no matter what I try to do, I just get an alert sound. This is true for all internal software normally-clickable items as well as Minimize, Maximize, Close, in the title bar.
Is there a better intervention than kill the process with the Task Manager and restart it? Is there a log somewhere that will give me a clue as to what has gone wrong?

Please advise.

A bit more context: I’m running the latest version, 1.11.4. I’m in People mode. I can see some scanning progress indication on the bottom line. I am able to scroll up and down through the people list, but all mouse clicks anywhere right or left just produce an alert sound.

I can see five tonfotos.exe processes running in Process Explorer, using about 65% of my cpu.

stephenenmo Based on the description, it sounds like there is some popup window blocking access to the applications. You need to close this window and access will restore.

Thanks, Andrey. I couldn’t find any popup window. I just left it on overnight and in the morning I found that it had shut it self down and seemed to behave properly when I ran it again.

Since that time, I have had multiple instances of Tonfotos hanging. If I wait long enough, it usually becomes functional, but if not, I kill it with Task Manager or Process Explorer, wait a bit and restart it. It seems to reset itself reasonably well.

I suspect my problems are related to having added a bunch of content on a NAS that is slower than the local drive where I have most of my prior content, and perhaps I am getting too much in a hurry, and overwhelming something in the software processes.

stephenenmo Based on your description (the beep sound) it does not seem to be usual lag from heavy load and slow connection. Beep usually comes when window is blocked by another modal window. This is common for all Windows applications. Anyway, I am glad that you are not stuck anymore. However, if this will happen again please pay attention to other open windows/messages.
