I have a Windows 11 computer serving as a file server with some 400k pictures on. I’m using Picasa but it’s inability to process RAW and HEIC is forcing a change. I found Tonfotos and am cautiously optimistic. With Picasa, I can copy the folders C:\Users<username>\AppData\Local\Google\Picasa2 and C:\Users<username>\AppData\Local\Google\Picasa2Albums folders from one computer to another and have the entire setup on the new computer.

Can you do the same with Tonfoto? This is really important - I’ve been running Tonfoto continuously now for 10 days (and have had to restart many, many times), and it still only has scanned and cataloged maybe half my photos.

In other words, is there a way to copy the Tonfoto database from one computer to another? Once the server is scanned and I can copy databases from one computer to another, I will purchase licenses for two computers 🙂

atlebjanes No, this is not supported. Indexing is required on every PC where Tonfotos is installed.

Thanks for the reply. Is there some effort underway to speed this up? Picasa is orders of magnitude faster than any other application I’ve tried (and I’ve tested a lot of them), including Tonfotos.

atlebjanes Curretnly indexing of videos is the slowest part, we are working on it.

I notice other people have a need for a database stored with the photos ;-)
