I’m pretty sure I am confused about terminology. Is Importing and Indexing your files the same thing? As soon as I start the Tonfotos program, I get a notification that the program is starting to import from my library. The program previously asked me if I wanted to import and I could answer yes or no. I remember at one point tellling it to automatically import and I cannot locate where I can change that setting back to asking me if I want to import. Can you stop or pause an import? I have 0.5 TB of data and nearly a 100K photos. Should I have the program check for changes in my data each time the program starts? Do you have any information you could point me to that I might better understand what is happening when the program is iporting/indexing? Thanks.

jclay Terminology is supposed to be following:

    • Indexing means program reads content of your archive for the first time and loads in into its internal database
    • Scanning means program already finished indexing, and now it checks if there are any changes in your archive to reflect in database
    • Importing means program moves files to your archive from some other location (other drive, phone, SD card, telegram, etc.)

I guess you have a phone always connected to your PC and every time you start an app it detects it and checks for new images. You can disable automatic import in the Import dialog that you can call from the main menu.
