New Family Tree Structure - “Extended”
After the release of the first version of the family tree, we received a number of comments from users that they were not satisfied with the completeness of the information on the family tree. They would like to have visible not only brothers and sisters of the central couple , but also their spouses and children. Such an extended family, without which the tree does not look complete enough. Therefore, we added this option. It completely repeats the “Hourglass”, except that additional descending branches will be added to the right and left of the central couple.
Adding a person to the tree without photos
A big problem for many was that in Tonfotos you could previously only add persons for whom you had a photo. Obviously, not all ancestors could have photos at all, but without them the tree would not be complete. As a temporary workaround, you could use various artificial pictures with silhouettes. Now, when adding connections for a person, you can choose not only an existing person, but there is now a “New person” option, and it will create a person with a template avatar without the need to have a photo. You can work with such a person in the same way as with any other. But it will not participate in face recognition until you add it to a photo.
Editing metadata for heic - BETA
The HEIC format has become very popular, as it has been the native format for shooting on the iPhone for some time now. It takes up less space than JPEG with the same quality. It also supports XMP and Exif metadata, like regular JPEG. Starting with this version, Tonfotos can edit all the same metadata (GPS, Date, Title, Tags, Comment) as for regular JPEG. Only image rotation is not supported yet, but this is not very important, since the image orientation when shooting on the iPhone is almost always correct.
Naturally, we tested this function on a large number of heic files that we were able to collect ourselves. However, we would still recommend that you exercise caution in using this function at first, and report any oddities you notice. And once again, we would like to remind you that regular backups of your photo archive are your responsibility!
We would also like to note that editing heic metadata is a unique feature. Very few programs can do this yet, as the format is still relatively new. For example, Windows Explorer cannot read and change heic tags and headers, although it can for JPEG.
Copy path to file
Several users almost simultaneously asked us to add to the context menu the ability to copy not only the files themselves, but also the paths to them. We added it.
