Apple Photo library replacement

I am searching for a program that can be used to maintain my 15k photo collection (just personal pictures from multiple years not anything professional). For many years, I have used iPhotos then Photos but DO NOT want to have to “curate” my photos. I DO NOT want to store them on the Cloud. I DO NOT want to pay an ongoing subscription costs for app but rather pay one time fee to install software. I want the capability to import photos from my iPhone onto my Mac for storage & retrieval. I want to arrange them in albums for future viewing & ease of access. Ongoing, I want to export them into folders (by year, by category, etc.) for backup & transfer purposes. I am not so interested in editing as much as consolidation & ongoing viewing of my photos on my MAC. Please convince me that Tonfotos is the right database to replace Apples photo libraries. TIA

YapperMac Well, this is very individual thing, so I don’t think this is possible to convice anyone, there is no software that is just best in all aspects, peolpe have thier preferences. Only you know what is more imporant for you. There are completely free alternatives like DigiKam, there are software that has been arround almost as long as I am, like ACDsee. What I can say for sure is that I personally use Tonfotos for my family archive 🙂 And I invite you to try Tonfotos for yourself and decide. Good thing the Free fersion has no time limitation, unlike of Trial versions from our competitors.

Thanks for your honesty & guidance. I have organized my photo collection into folders by years & categories for storage & backup purposes so I guess at this point, maybe all I need is a way to easily “view” or “browse” them?

YapperMac Well, time had to spent on reading your images one way or another. Tonfotos does that upfront once and then everything runs smooth. Some applications will waste your time later as you work. You enter a search term and then you wait while it will scan your files.

Also, don’t forget that Tonfotos has best accuracy in face recognition among competitors. That also comes at a price - more computing resources are used for recognition. There is no free breakfast after all, everything comes at a price.
