The version is already available for download on Windows, Linux and macOS. If automatic updates are enabled, the update will be installed automatically on Windows and macOS.
Function to search for new people in your photos
Now you can call the “Suggest new person” function through the main menu:
In response, the program will look in real time at all the faces that you have in your library, but which have not yet been assigned to any existing persons, are not similar to any of your persons, but at the same time appear in your photographs many times (without taking into account full duplicate photos).
In computer science, this is called “clustering”, and usually requires a lot of calculation time, however, thanks to a unique algorithm, Tonfotos performs this complex operation on a database of 150,000 faces in 0.3 seconds.
As a result, you will see similar dialogue with an example of this person’s faces from different photographs (with person’s faces instead):
You can then decide whether to add this person to your library right now or just ignore. If you ignore, the program will also offer you the option to immediately remove that person’s faces from your library, but you can decline.
Sometimes, when it is difficult to immediately understand what kind of person the program has offered you, you want to first look at full photographs with this person. This can be easily done by clicking the corresponding button, or by clicking on a specific portrait. In this case, the dialog will close and you will be taken to that photo. However, the next time you open this dialog again, the same suggestion will be there so that you can decide again whether to add it to the library. In all other cases, when you open this dialogue again, you will be offered various random people from your library.
Other improvements
Now, when you hover your mouse over a portrait in the file information panel, the portrait will be slightly enlarged so you can see it better. Double-clicking on an unassigned person will now bring up a name entry dialog. To the one already added, as before, it will take you to detailed information about this person.
