Don’t know if this is actually a “bug” or not, but I’ve noticed recently that tonfotos seems to be having trouble telling children apart, particularly at younger ages. It doesn’t help, I suppose, that the children in the photos that I’m working with are from related families, but I was surprised that it will suggest girls faces for boys and vice versa. The people I’m seeing this for probably have a much larger proportion of their photos which show what they look like as adults, and relatively few that have been confirmed for what they looked like as children. This seems to result in suggested matches on the person’s section of the People tab which are almost a random assortment of children’s faces from the entire collection, without regard to whether the person is male or female. Previously, I’d noticed that tonfotos (quite reasonably, in my opinion) would suggest child photos of parents as a match for their children (for example, it suggested a picture of my father as a child as one of my own childhood photos). Anyone else noticing this, and whether it has changed from previous versions of the software?
I wonder whether it would be worthwhile to code some logic that (for example) would track when certain faces tend to appear together in group photos, possibly suggesting a family relationship, or would flag when two people in the same photo have been identified as being the same person (usually the same person appears only once in a photo)?
