The version is already available for download on the site for all platforms (Windows, macOS, Linux). If automatic updates are enabled, the update will install automatically on Windows and macOS.
In version 1.2 we continue the work started in 1.1.2 on a new block of Tonfotos functionality - changing metadata in source files. As before, it is still possible to work with changing metadata only in jpeg files, however, this is the most popular format for storing photos, and this is quite enough for most users.
From the user’s point of view, tags are a way of grouping files by topic, which differs from albums only in that tags are written to the metadata of the file itself. The advantage of this approach is that these tags will be able to understand other programs that you can use to work with the archive both now and in the future.
On the other hand, working with tags is much more complicated, since every change in the structure of tags leads to the need to overwrite data in a number of files in the archive. When working on the functionality of tags, we tried to keep the same simplicity and convenience to which users are accustomed to working with albums.
What feature to add next?
Tag editing is one of the most anticipated features we’ve been asked about by users on the forum, and is now available for all users, including users of the free version of Tonfotos. We listen very closely to our users’ feedback and would love your ideas on what features are missing in the first place.
