Alain22 I am trying to understand that better.

Let say you have 100 photos in your album. You want to share it. Let say, using email. However, no email will be able to attach 100 photos of 2-3MB each. What you expect to happen then?

As to WhatsApp. I am not sure if it is capable of sending originals like Telegram, but let assume there is mode that does not cut all the metadata and does not downsample images to something unusable. What you expect to happen next? Your peer will get 100 images in a chat from you. What should they do with it? Click each one and save? Or just look?

I understand that sharing is important, however, this is much more complicated topic that it might seem.

I had thought of something not too complicated.
Email: indeed, the size of media can be problematic, we could limit it to a certain overall size like 10 or 15 megabytes and simply refuse sending if it’s too large.
Whatsapp: it’s different, we can allow sending up to 30 / 40 photos. The app will manage to reduce them. We can accept sending with metadata, maybe by displaying the information before sending.
Otherwise, indeed, if we had to manage metadata, compression, etc., that would really be another much heavier project. Moreover, Whatsapp handles refusal of sending very well if the photo and/or video media are too large.

These are only family or friends sharing, so exclusively on WhatsApp as far as we are concerned. I make a selection by creating an album and I share them. For now, I go through exports.

99% of the time it concerns activities that we have done together. I also have a daughter who lives in Canada, and from time to time we make selections of photos that we send to each other via WhatsApp if there aren’t many. If there are many, I go through the cloud, but it is not frequent.

My little daughter loves recognizing people and often looks on my PC. She likes sending photos of certain people to herself. Directly on WhatsApp, it would be easier and faster.

I haven’t found any requests on this forum, maybe it doesn’t interest many people.

Alain22 Thank you for sharing! I think many people actually need sharing, but most people have thier own preferred ways, so this topic can get copmlicated pretty fast I guess.
