Hello, I am running Tonfotos on MacOs Tahoe. I use the high efficiency option on my nikon Z8 when shooting. Tonfotos considers these files as “corrupted” and does not read them while I can perfectly read them on my Mac. Is there any workaround or do I miss something ? Sorry if there is already an answer to this question; I try to find the answer without any success thks Bruno
bruno21 Can you please send some of those files to support@tonfotos.com for tests?
In any case, Tonfotos uses LibRaw for RAW files, if it does not support this mode, Tonfotos does not either.
Thanks for this reply Andrey. Then I have my answer: LibRaw does not support Nikon HE RAWs… quite sad
bruno21 Still I would like to ask you to send me some sample files. As you said, macOS can open them natively, we can look into this deeper.
Hi Andrey, you’ll find samples here : https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1yEA8YvvhxfCC_g-o44dObZCZOp4cds-N?usp=drive_link Appreciate your help
bruno21 Thanks a lot! I checked them in my Windows 11 and here’s how standard Photos app is viewing them. First it opens normally (showing built-in preview JPEG) and after a second it changes to decompressed RAW image:
Are you sure images are OK?
In my windows 10 PC, I was able to open those sample images just fine with Photos, Photos Legacy, and IrfanView. However, in photo gallery i got the same result as Andrey (decompressed RAW image). So I think the photos are ok, just not in all apps.
Yes I can confirm these photos are ok. I did process them using capture one (mac). And I also got the same result as described by Andrey on Win 11: for a second it appears ok (I guess there is a jpeg embbeded in the raw file) and then it goes wrong when trying to process the raw file itself.
