Tag a person to a face, but give option to exclude from facial recognition

Can we please get the ability to tag a person to a face, but also exclude it from being used for facial recognition?

The most common scenario for me is Halloween costumes, masks, and makeup. I know who the person is behind the mask, and I want to tag them, but I don’t want those facial features to be used to find similar faces.

Another scenario is snapchat filters - the app sometimes puts dog ears or various overlays on the face. I would like to tag the person, so I can search for them later, but I don’t want facial recognition to use an “inaccurate” photo as a means for suggesting similar likenesses.

Rodger I am afraid, that goes against phylosofy of the application. It should be simple and smart. Its should not require user to manage AI that deep.

Did you actually try to tag faces like that? What were the results?

I did not yet tag faces hiding behind Halloween costumes, but I have tagged faces where the person wasn’t fully looking at the camera, and this resulted in suggestions of anyone “looking away” as a possible match. I have about 200,000 photos, so it becomes extremely difficult to wade through so many ‘incorrect’ suggestions.
It doesn’t seem to be a failure of the facial recognition, I feel at-fault for providing “a face without clearly defined features” as data for the AI to ingest.
Being able to opt-out a photograph from inclusion in facial recognition, while still tagging a face, would very useful (in my opinion).

Rodger Program is actually not that dumb. If you will avoid low quality images in general and will start assigning them to just one person, then that person will get a lot of similarly bad suggestions. However, if you will stop avoiding them and will start confirming low quality suggestions too for many people, program will learn from that, and it will not be an issue anymore. So instead of cherry picking each face you can train program other way. This is how I do it, and there is generally no big issue with low quality faces being suggested in large numbers.
