Support of Apple silicon GPUs to make the indexing faster?

Hi,

I have a M5 MBP laptop and I don’t see my GPU working that much. Looks like the GPU might get to 10-15% whereas my CPU is being used at full capacity by “tonfotos”, “tonfotos helper (gpu)” and “tonfotos (renderer)”.

For my personal knowledge, how and what are the GPUs in Apple silicon used for versus CPU.

And is it planned to leverage more of the GPUs in the powerful M series chips ?

Steph GPU on macOS is used by UI framework, it helps it to draw UI faster. This is part of electron framework Tonfotos is build upon. As to facial recognition, we don’t use GPU on macOS yet. However, even with that, my M1 MacBook does facial recognition almost as fast as my Windows PC with GPU on, just because arm CPU’s are faster for some reason for tasks like that.
