Store Faces in Image Metadata

I want to do this for my library so that the data is transportable between devices. Before I started scanning, I set the above toggle in Manage photo library locations. I’m using the free version to prove the concept before buying the paid version. However the photos don’t contain this data. Chatgpt has suggested that this may be a ‘free version’ issue, but would like to be sure before I commit to the paid version. Is there anywhere I can get a sample photo produced by the paid version that I could use as a test?

Ronnie No this is not free version issue. This function works the same in both versions. The information is only stored when you confirm person on the photo. Did you confirm many faces?

A lot of faces didn’t need confirming as it had picked up the face recognition from Windows Photo Gallery. However the photo I checked had had a face confirmed and the modified date of the photo had changed to the time of confirmation.

I checked it using F Stop Gallery on my phone ( the reason I’m doing this) and also on ChatGPT. This is what ChatGPT said:-
👉 Result: No — this photo does NOT contain any face recognition metadata.

🔍 Specifically:
❌ No XMP-mwg-rs:RegionInfo (face regions)
❌ No RegionName entries (named faces)
❌ No PersonInImage
❌ No other face-related tags
✅ What is present:
Standard image metadata only (camera/profile info, etc.)
No evidence of Tonfotos (or any software) writing face data into the file

Ronnie I am afraid I never heard of F Stop Gallery. As to ChatGPT, that is definitely something I would never use for that kind of tasks. ExifTool is the golden standard, I use it when I need independent confirmation. Anyway, can you please send me some photos to support@tonfotos.com so I can check if faces are stored?

Ronnie Thank you for files. In my reply to you I attached XMP chunks extracted from those jpeg’s so you can see yourself that Tonfotos properly recorded face regions there.
